Little Island House

The deck of the downstairs apartment is only a few feet from the water's edge at high tide.  The sliding glass door opens into a spacious living room. A fireplace, kitchen and dining area are just beyond. There are two bedrooms and a full bath.

Enter the upstairs apartment through a sliding glass door to the living/dining room with large granite fireplace, cathedral ceiling and skylight. The kitchen and study area extend your living space. The bathroom has a shower. The bedroom with a queen size bed and skylight is on the top floor.

Both apartments have a well equipped kitchen, and are fully furnished with all linens; they are immaculately clean and have lovely décor. WiFi, cable TV, phone. All the firewood you want, central heat for cool weather, good ventilation in summer. Wrap-around decks, up and down, have deck furniture and grill, and provide ample opportunity to enjoy the harbor view and the many faces of the Maine sky, tides, birds, and boats.

The downstairs apartment has two bedrooms. The one facing the water has a queen size bed; the garden-side bedroom has two twin beds; sleeps 4 adults or 2 adults plus up to 2 teens (call for details).

The upstairs apartment has one bedroom with a queen size bed; sleeps 2 adults.

Rent both apartments and enjoy 2 queen beds plus 2 twin beds; sleep up to 6 adults or 2 adults plus up to 4 aditional adults/teens (call for details).

Reservation information: Half down within two weeks of making reservation; balance due upon arrival.
Cancellation policy: Refund if re-rented.

General Info

There's plenty to do in Bass Harbor, a fishing village and working harbor on the southern end of Mount Desert Island. The Swan's Island Ferry leaves from here, and the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse, Wonderland and Ship Harbor hiking trails, part of Acadia National Park, are a mile or so away.

At Little Island Marine, the small boatyard which shares the peninsula with the Little Island House, the "Island Cruise" makes nature trips and lunch cruises daily. A rowboat is available from our dock for rowing around the harbor anytime. Restaurants are within walking distance.
