On Mount Desert Island, freshwater fishing for warm water species such as pickerel, smallmouth bass as well as white and yellow perch can be satisfying and fun. Non-Resident Saltwater Fishing License Regulations
No license is required for salt water fishing. Mackerel and Bluefish can be caught (when they are running) along Sargent Drive on Somes Sound or Frazer Point on the Schoodic Peninsula.
CAUTION: Be very careful when fishing off rocks. Seaweed and algae covered rocks are extremely slippery. Also, never turn your back on the ocean when near the edge - an unusually high wave can suddenly crash onto the rocks and knock you over and even wash you into the ocean. Never fish alone.
