After receiving hundreds of e-mail responses from folks who have used my Acadia Vacations Web Site it appears I should provide a little information about the genesis of Acadia Vacations and about me.

How Did Acadia Vacations Come About?- While enjoying Acadia National Park and many other beautiful areas of Maine I have talked with many travelers from all over the world. Several years ago it became obvious to me that many of the folks I talked to did not have a real good understanding of what there is to do and see here in Maine. It was clear these people were missing a lot because there simply was no easy way to obtain travel information in advance of their visit to Maine.

With the internet rapidly growing in popularity at that time, I decided to create a Web Site designed specifically for folks planning a visit to the Downeast region of Maine including Acadia National Park. My goal was to help visitors maximize their time here.

Because all of the businesses listed on Acadia Vacations are invited - not members of an organization - I am able to be completely honest with you when you ask me for an opinion or recommendation.

Who is Stan Fleming Anyway? - I am a self-employed business person living in Palermo Maine (in the heart of Downeast Maine). My family has traveled the length and breadth of Maine from Fort Kent to Kittery and from Eastport to Bethel. We have seen Moose near Baxter State Park (as well as a few hundred yards from our home) whales in the Gulf of Maine and bass in the lake we live on - Sheepscot Pond.

Mark, my son (17 on April 1, 2002), has been helping me develop this site. He has hiked with me and has used his photography skills to take most of the scenic pictures you will see on the site. You will also see photos provided by several friends we have made through out web site. Joe Marino and Joanne Cohen are two people I helped plan acadia vacations and they have been gracious enough to supply me with some great photos.
